Been reading the last couple weeks and bugging people but I was looking for more opinions. So, egt temps when turning up fuel. What's safe, medium and to far? I've read people as high as 1500F for extended periods. when I put my gauges in, I assume I was factory, it was 900F at full throttle climbing.

1150 now, whole new truck

Talk to me goose

1200* is safe to run all day long. I think I've hit a max of 1150* with stock tune towing up hill on Chromeo. Wouldn't panic hitting 1300-1400* briefly.

Just got back from a test spin after adjustment 1250F

What boost are you running at that egt

21

Lots of room there too. Bump that up to 25 or so. Then you'll have a little more room for fuel

Jebus... 25.I'm having a blast at 21. So here's where I got too

1. 0-100 - yes, with ease
2. Highway turd - no
3. Egt -1250
4. Boost - 21 psi
5. Idle is higher even though I adjusted
6. Mileage - gotta be down, but super fun
7. Accelerate hard when I want - almost always
8. 800 F , 10 psi when cruising at 100 kph
9. Exhaust - 3" straight, sounds awesome and noticeable power
10. Not done yet but would like to address the idle- 1050 idle should be 850 but I also have twine holding the cable assembly

Idle being up should be able to adjust. Often what happens is your throttle cable holds up the idle. Need to loosen it right off... Then adjust idle.... Then snug cable

I had mine set very similar, only I could only make 18lbs... My egt's would climb as far as 1400 on a hill with my boot in it. You won't hurt it unless you sustain that temp for a prolonged period. My supercharged gasser would go as high as 1500 on long pulls!

I have a theory. Prolonged high temps of 1400 may eventually damage metal but the real concern is the effectiveness of the oil. Your oil will fail first leading to bearing failure which in turn damages the metal bits.

You need to be worried about the oil before worrying about cracking a head.

That's a first hand experience theory. Though I have only the one data point.

Many moons ago, we put the Denco on a 1hz, customer said crank it up... Temps were way to high so we put a water to air intercooler and could not get it more than 800 at full boost on long hills.

That maybe a little off topic, but if you could find or build an inter cooler, your engine as Kevin mentioned will stay together..
