Folks, I'm preparing to prime the interior of several areas around the house prior to painting them again. I used to use Kilz Latex primer with really good results but now I've noticed that there are all sorts of other variations both within Kilz's line and of course other lines including Sherwin Williams which is what I primed and painted the exterior with. Can y'all share some wisdom here please? Thanks.

I doubt there are any major differences in good-quality primers. Kilz is good stuff, there are several formulations to be used for differing problems, applications, or environments. I have no doubt SW makes good primer, I generally use Dunn-Edwards paints when I have a choice. Just stay away from cheap stuff. I've never seen a paint job fail 'cause someone used Brand A primer under Brand B paint. Just read the labels for proper preparation, application, and compatibility with different types of paint. Don't overthink it. :D If it's really bothering you, you can't go wrong using the same brand of primer and paint (as long as you follow the directions).

Unfortunately I have an online subscription which wasn't worth anything at all for primer information. More and more Consumer Reports just doesn't rate what I am interested in. :meh: Anyways, I've always gotten good results with the regular Kilz latex but now they have Kilz 2 and Kilz Premium which I guess isn't really Latex but is Acrylic. Anyone else with experience or expertise here? I'd love to learn what works and what won't. Thanks.
