Hi everyone,
I need some advice related to my driveway. As you can tell from the pictures, the driveway is a bit steep but that does not bother me all that much.

My big issue is the breakover angle as the driveway enters the street. For the trucks it works fine, but most cars bottom out at the angle.

The driveway needs to be made a bit wider and repaved. I am not opposed to digging up the existing asphalt, since I believe there are currently two layers down. Will removing the asphalt lower the breakover angle? I can't length the driveway since the garage is directly behind the driveway. Any other ideas? The driveway is somewhat useless as it is.

Thanks,
Zack

And third picture....For some reason it would not let me post three at a time as usual.

Probably the best way to lower the break over is to curve the driveway rather than a angle and slope down. The curved break over will end up with a steeper angle mid-slope though.

Perhaps I am not following, but then would I have the same "bottoming out" issue mid slope? As it stands now, My driveway does become flat at the bottom, I would like to retain the flat spot.

Zack you may have that slight hump at the top to keep the street water from using your driveway as an exit swale into your garage.

You can fatten the backside of the hump up so it's not so abrupt but then you'll add a steeper slope father back at some point.
Basically like jetboy has pictured.

Are you in snow country? Or heavy rains?
You want the bottom of the driveway to be lower than the garage. I'd slope it sideways away from the house, maybe add a drain pipe.
You could move the entrance and curve the driveway making it longer and less angled.
