yeah...uugh...long evening...was working on installing a new plugin when the post table locked up...had about 4-5 threads that double posted, and then another 10 or so that posted a thread title but the post content didn't link up with the threadid settings...

two different attempts to correct failed...there may still be some adjustments needed over the next day or two...

sorry about the problems...hopefully, it's corrected and smoothed out :)

Thanks!!! im just glad the sight is back up and running,........um.. dose any one els get shaky and sweaty when they havent been on mud at least once a day? :meh:

Glad you got it worked out. I know these things can be a nightmare at times. What does the plug-in offer as far as functionality?

it doesn't...since it crashed everything the first time, I'm not trying again :)

need to learn to leave well enough alone...

Do you have anything in terms of redundancy that you can mirror, isolate, snapshot the entire environment and then play with in a sandbox? We started doing this to one of our databases and then cloned a separate app server that we can manipulate in any number of ways. It is great for trying out new things while at the same time having no impact on "production". This kind of stuff gets me excited!

I do not have an operational backup...

There ARE backups tho, plenty of them...some in TX, some in NY...nightly rsyncs and all that...I believe the absolute worst case is 12 hours of lost data...and that assumes a crash immediately prior to a scheduled backup...

When the site moved two years ago to it's present location, the backups in NY were used to populate the new server, rather than place load on the live server...believe there was less than 30 seconds of downtime for the members during the final rsync with the live data.

My guy is good :)

The crash gremlins always seem to know your backup schedule. No matter how aggressive the schedule is, crashes invariably occur immediately prior to the next scheduled backup.
