Guys,

General Brake Fluid Questions. If you had a vehcicle that the brake system at one time was soley DOT 5 brake fluid and at some time or another some one Mixed Dot 3 fluid in. Could you convert easily to just dot 3. by just a flush and fill of the system with dot 3. Would there be any problems with seal corosion? I am aware that when going from dot 3 to dot 5 the silicon dot 5 fluid may corode the dot 3 seals but have found nothing to prove the opposite. Just looking for some input.

Jason,

Happy New Year,

I've always heard you can go back down the ladder with Brake Fluid but not up the ladder. If you have any doubt about the seals it might be better to just go ahead and replace.

Mark,

You were right i confered with several reputable people and they said if the system is flushed fileld and bled with dot 3 there should be no problems. Just wanted to give you the heads up that you are right.
