Vancouver,
Apologies if this has been discussed, but does anybody have a view on the use of these door steps on your vehicle's roof? I would like my vertically challenged wife to be able to reach the roof rack, if she wanted to.

Vendors make a big deal of how much weight the actual door latch receiver can take, (both vertically and horizontally), but what about the mild steel against which the rubber stopper will press against? Any comments, experience, views?

Sounds like a good way to fall and crack one’s head open.

Or maybe that’s the plan... 🤫

I just grabbed one of these for a recent trip in my 80 and it was great. It also fits my 100. It's got a substantial bumper on the back side so no scuffing or dimpling. I've put both feet on it to reach up and into both my cargo basket and Yakima box as well and it felt secure. I'm at 170#. I'm going to strap it down to the second row foot pad for easy access in the future.

Thank you all for your replies. I'm about 200 (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) and bought the original Moki one. Will let you know how it goes. Cheers.

Feedback and update. I received my Moki doorstep and tried it out this weekend on a camping trip and .... I am very impressed with this product. As stated above, I had no doubt that this product and the various copies that are on the market, can take considerable weight, but I was concerned about dimpling or denting the framework of my Sequioa, where the rubber stop of the doorstep rests on the body frame. I purposefully used it extensively this past weekend. With the help of my wife, we tried to determine if the doorstep will indent the body work. With me on the doorstep and my wife observing the doorstep at close quarters, we failed to see any damage occurring to the vehicle pillar panels. I tried all four the door hooks and it worked well on all of them. So far so good. I am only commenting here on the Moki and have no knowledge of how other similar products will do in similar tests.
