I don't see a Toyota accessory for this purpose. Anyone have a product that they use for the door sills on their 200?

i had an '05 Tacoma that had ugly black protectors on it. the glue melted in the TX heat and i eventually removed them because of the mess. my new LC has what amounts to clear packing tape as protection... that, i guess, Toyota expects will do the same job? from the looks of it, the tape might prevent minor paint chips... but it doesn't seem like it'll do anything to prevent a door ding for me or another car.

Yea, thinking that I may have the tint guys do a clear guard on it like the front end.

Off topic somewhat, but I wonder if anyone has installed these on their 200? Not exactly sill protection but is called "scuff plate" and is claimed to be Toyota OEM

those were on the two 2016 LC's I looked at yesterday. Agree if anything I would do a 3M film on the sills if desired. Also worth considering is the some 3M film on the plastic interior high traffic pieces which are prone to scratch and scuff easy. (if you're worried about it looking new long down the line, this seems like doable cheap insurance)

Personally, I would rather NOT draw attention to the door sill, as it is usually the dirtiest part of the interior at any given time.

Protect from damage/mud? Yes. Something that draws attention? Nah...

FWIW, I've got those on my 2013 LX and the prior owner managed to dent them pretty easily. One is being replaced by the dealer. Both look like they would flex the aluminum easily if you put a lot of direct pressure on a single spot. Still not quite sure what they did, but definitely noticeable.

Not a cheap part.

I too am wanting a more durable door sill for my 2016 LC200....the lighted LC sill plate is cool....but not very durable long term.
Has anyone found a more "sturdy" plate that would endure dirt, small stones, and any abrasion and remain good look?

Clear helicopter tape. Too much bling on the metal and lighted sills. If mine on the 16 get destroyed, I may buy the ones from the prior version (13-15) which is more plain and practical.

I would love to find some custom cut (Xpel/3M) black door sill guard that would cover the stainless & cut out for the lighted portion....anyone know where or how to do that?

Forum members, just got a shop to cut this Xpel door sill product to cover my aluminum door sills.
Looks more durable, provides some grip, and is much more stock looking for this Land Cruiser.
Let me know what you think.

Is it the blk piece or clear over everything?
Very timely as mine is getting done next week

Anyone get liquid inside the light part? Anyway to get it out or is it just a replacement job?
