I'm new to the forum and an owner of an FJ80. This is the first time I have owned an SUV and I'm still iffy about it. I have been around sports cars all my life and this is my first SUV daily driver. I love the car, but I do miss the import/street-car world. I hope this website will convince me to keep my 80.

Anyways, I have a slight problem with my locks on the driver's side. It doesn't seem to want to open very well. I have to lock the door to get in, but i have to turn the key ALL the way to the left and HOLD the key then pull the handle. Then, to get out, i have to fidget with the lock for a while. Sometimes, it lets me out, but sometimes it doesn't. I have to move the lock around from left to right (this is inside the car) and then to the middle. I've never encountered this in my life. Nor does anyone I know. I'm wondering if i just need new locks or solenoids. Any help would be very appreciative.

First, welcome to the board :flipoff2: (the mud salute). You will fall in love with the 80 as everyone seems to. It is no sports car, but it is the best all around truck for any circumstance in my opinion.

As for the door locks, can't help ya there. I'm sure someone else can, and will.

Might as well take off the door skin now and start poking around. Something in there ain't right. Oh yaa :flipoff2:

Skin off, play with lock mechanism, maybe some spray silicone. And call it a truck not an SUV :flipoff2: !
