Any one out there ever installed a doggie door in their auto opening garage door? I would like to see some photos if you will post them up. I plan to build one from solid leftover inexpensive material, not going to pay for some imported plastic Chinese crap! I do have a couple of ideas, so please if ya got'em, post'em!
And thanks in advance,
DAVE

IMHO it's worth it to get the ones that open based on the presence of your pet (RFID tag goes on the pets collar, and the door only opens if that is near). Thieves have been known to use doggy doors as access points.

Of course it depends on the size of your dog, and if you have a real one and not a rat that barks. :)

I had an "automatic" cat door, where the cat had a magnet on it's collar. The door was set up so the cat could not get in without the magnet tripping the door latch, but the cat could get out without the magnet. In other words the door would swing open from inside to outside freely, but was latched such that it would not swing from outside to inside without the magnet being present. It wasn't too long before the racoons figured out that they could pull the door open from the outside and get into the house. I didn't appreciate coming home at night and finding three or four racoons in my kitchen! It would have been better if the door was latched in both directions, but then my animal could have been trapped inside if it "lost" it's collar.
