The other day I bought a set of Hi-lift jack mounts to put on my Con-fer rack, the problem is I am in the process of completing the brackets to make them work with my rack and I am not sure where to mount it. I am thinking of putting the jack on the back of the rack but I was thinking that there would be too much weight on the rear. If i was to put it on the side of the rack I wouldnt be able to put an awning on my cruiser because the other side has my shovel mount on it. I know its kind of a lame question but I really don't know where to put it.

Thanks in advance for any response to my stupid question.

inside the rack

If you have a full size rack, and the 60" hi-lift, mount it inside the rack.

I have a 40 and the 48" and it's mounted on the inside of the rack, foot forward. Just by chance, I put it in that way but while attending a Toyota Trails Team Clinic, I think I remember that's how they recommend mounting a hi-lift on a roof rack, if you can. Makes it a little less likely to catch on stuff..... and in the event the brackets fail, it would typically and hopefully land IN the rack. Not go crashing off your cruiser.

Thanks Cardinal, I think I'll go with that setup.

Are you requesting the clamp-on purchased type or the welded homebrew variety?

Rick

Well the bracket that I bought is for a Defender rack so it doesnt fit my Conferr because mine is a lot taller. I'm in the process of welding on some additional metal to bracket so it will fit.

Thanks everyone for the help.
