How much to spend on your pet's medical bills (personal property) is a difficult decision and only your business.

Would I spend $500 on my cat? Hell no.

Would I spend $500 on my dog? Hell yes.

Would I spend $500 on you all? Hell no

Not as difficult as I thought

With the pet medical insurance, the other issue is pre-exicsitng conditiotns, and some of the policies won't pay for breed specific problems, such as upper airway surgery on short faced dogs (English bulldogs, Bostons, Llasas, etc). It doesn't mean it isn't worth it, but it is just something else to consider. Like anything, you're basically prepaying for your pet's medical care, since most people don't have a medical savings account for their pets.

i hope your pooch gets better soon. i guess we've been pretty fortunate with our pup.. she's been pretty healthy so far. i need to make sure when we breed her that we find a suitable male from a distant blood line to help negate the effects of passing on hereditary diseases....
