I know the general topic of fold down tables has been covered a lot, but I have a question specifically for the GX470. Planning on doing a simple continuous hinge and 1/2' ply, however any other type of supports/reinforcements, such as a sheet metal, or extra wood required behind the rear plastic door panel to make it sturdy enough? Or can I just simply drill holes through the plastic, and either tie knots in paracord, or solder something to steel wire behind the panel? Heaviest item I will use this for is a double burner stove. What did you guys do? Any insight appreciated here.

Hey @psilocyBen, I think I’ll end up building my table in the next month. What did you end up deciding and how has it worked for you?

Didn’t end up using reinforcements. Just use steel cable with wire clamps behind the plastic door panel and 4 little hinges securing the table to the panel. I just screwed the hinges into the plastic panel and then used super glue on the back side of each screw. I think the 4 hinges look a lot better than a super long continuous hinge and also this way I didn’t have to drill 20+ holes in the door panel. Tables definitely strong enough for my use, mainly just use it for preparing meals and coffee, and occasionally for other stuff, but I never put anything super heavy on it. Even if you did a reinforcement plate you still wouldn’t want to use it for anything really heavy because the plastic panel itself is mainly just held on by a bunch of pop in clips.
