Just got off the phone with Ben about this build. Super helpful in answering questions. Will be following the build. Count me in if there is a production run. He said Instagram will be a good place to follow along for pictures of the build. I am of the mind to keep the rear crossmember in place with removable hitch. Sounds like this one might go that way.
I dropped into the shop late last week. Ben said he would forward pictures to post here. The shop is busy, so he’s trying to squeeze my 80 into the queue. I’ll try to stop into the shop in the next week or so.
I talked to Ben about cutting the cross member or leaving it intact. I'm with you, wanting to cut the cross member to keep the hitch as tight as possible for improved departure angle. Ben is leaning toward keeping the cross member intact, but is open to either option. Ben asked if I wanted to install a long range fuel tank or keep a spare, which would be possible if the cross member is cut.
When we remove the stock rear bumper, check how the 80 series frame matches up to the 100 series bumper components he has on the shelf, that will tell us more and give direction. I'll be posting more information as the time approaches. My rig will have a front bumper made first, since it's more straight forward and faster to build.
Really eager to see some pictures! Ben is a true craftsman. I'm hoping an aluminum variant may come to production. Trying to keep as light as possible.

We’ve been delayed waiting for suspension parts. With a 1” body lift and extended rear control arms installed, Ben will be able to start the rear bumper. To fit 37’s, the rear axle moves back, which will require the bumper wings to be trimmed back about 2” from stock. Been meaning to get an update. I’ll give @benc a call tomorrow and post an update.
