Ya which looks really cool. But I would want to see how he does it, I only want to have to install a bumper once. Sounds like he may or may not remove the crossmember. Also, not working due to having the Corona virus, I'm not making expensive purchases unless necessary. I was in a better situation when I posted in this thread for the first time..
The plan for this would also be NO CUT like the 100. Bolt on - retain crossmember.
Feel you on the timing. I'm guessing a lot of folks aren't in the market for a bumper right now due to the economic impacts of covid.

Count me out - I appreciate the effort to get this going but sold my 80 a couple years ago. Good luck!!!!!

I’m in the same boat as far as bad timing. I’ve had a change in employment due to COVID-19 and don’t have any room to put $500 towards something that isn’t a roof over my head or food in my belly. If my circumstances improve this will remain at the top of my ‘fun stuff’ list.

The 100 rear bumpers pictured near the top of page 3 with the indented area with integrated receiver look badass. But the website also shows a bunch with a bolted on receiver below the cross member, which looks a lot more dull and a point to drag off road. Which design will be copied? I'd rather cut a square out of my crossmember to get the former.

I'm interested in the rear bumper...have contacted Dissent regarding a front bumper as well. Count me in.

What's the price breakdown on the and base and on the accessories? I'd be willing to get in if the price is right.

Jason

Check out the dissent website. Pricing should be similar to the 100 series prices.
Sounds like there's a few of us ready and interested, but goal is 10 to kick this off.

$1400 for main bumper

$750 for tire carrier

$575 for a three Jerry can swing out.

$2725 total

Thanks for cross posting that. On mobile right now and was going to add it when I got to a desktop.

Who all would be serious at this point on making moves to make this happen?
I think it's modularity and design is awesome for the price. Others similar and you end up at $4k pretty fast.

I am in but it is asking a lot of people to tie up money for 6months or more without a schedule so if we have enough people it would be good to get an ETA. Would also be nice to get some specifics as to which version would be made etc. I am with @Heckraiser on the receiver option as i can make a little cut in my cross member and i think everyone else can do that too for under 20bucks if they have to buy tools

With ya. I think the first goal was to prove there was enough interest for @benc to take the time to work up a design. Ill reach out and see what his thoughts are.

4x4 Labs bumper is $2200 with the same options.

$2525 shipped to me. I know they also have a Mud discount at one time.

I'm all for added ground clearance. Anyone compared the two in person?

Modular means no special shipping/freight right?

If you want to cut your frame up, sure.
Haven't compared them but they're very very different designs.

Just looked at the Dissent photos on their site. Very high quality products. Much attention to detail.

Been playing phone tag with Ben at Dissent.
Sounds like he may have his hands on an LX450 that wants front/rear bumpers though front is priority.
Trying to see if we could get the number to kick this off down to 5 instead of 10.
I told him a lot of people would want to see prototype #1 before putting down a deposit (including the final hitch layout).
Ill do my best to keep everyone updated, though if this takes months to see a prototype, i may personally have to move onto something available sooner.

Thanks for digging in on this and the updates

Dropped off my LX450 at the Dissent shop in Colfax, CA today. Ben was knowledgeable, easy to work with, and ready to start work on the truck. The front bumper will be built first. Ben expects the front to be straight forward based on past experience with another 80 project.

The rear has more unanswered questions. One is whether the swing outs used on the 100 will work for the 80. Another is how the hitch receiver will interact with the frame. We expect some cutting. I also want a flush mounted receiver, so that will be a part of the design. I’ll be dropping into the shop next week. It’s a 2 1/2 hour drive from home, so I won’t be going there much. Will post pics. Might start a new thread for the front bumper.

Just got off the phone with Ben about this build. Super helpful in answering questions. Will be following the build. Count me in if there is a production run. He said Instagram will be a good place to follow along for pictures of the build. I am of the mind to keep the rear crossmember in place with removable hitch. Sounds like this one might go that way.

I'm trying to stay up to date/in contact with ben as well. Hoping he may reach out with any updates i can post here.
Glad to hear it's sounding like what we were after.
