Just an update... not liking the celica seats as much as I hoped. the bolsters don't lock you in like the Porsche seats do. They would be an improvement over stock, just not what I want for offloading.

Time to look for other options.

Love my ford seat, some of the best around

I put 2008 Honda Accord seats in mine 2-3 years ago. Holding up well, can drive all day and have no back pain. Brackets were easy to modify. Only downside is they sit about 1/2 inch off center toward the door, so if I ever want to change out the center console could get one that is a little wider:rolleyes:. Mine came with the ventilated leather, but not heat. The built in airbag was very easy to disable. Bought them from a guy who was going to put them in a custom car for about $350 for the pair. Only thing is @6'3" if I were to do it again I would modify the brackets to sit back a little further.

Halfway through a seat swap. I got a killer deal on these 2011 VW Jetta seats. Leather, heaters. They are a manual slide, but have power recline. The rails are quite a bit wider than the cruiser ones. I did a bit of light hammering to the ridge in the floorboard where the front mount is closest to the ebrake handle because of the rail width. Without a bit of clearancing to that ridge, they sit too close to the door and the door won't close correctly. Driver seat is done and installed. Need to do the passenger seat tonight.

I needed to fabricate new mounts for them, but that was pretty straight forward. I need to hook up the electricals still but drove it to work this morning and the comfort and seating position is so much better for me. The seat bottom is probably about 1" higher than the stock seat bottoms so it will raise the driving position slightly. These seats have a 'tilt' adjustment for the bottom so with that adjusted lower it doesn't feel like you're sitting any higher.

My seats are 20 years old, and in need of a refurbishment or replacement. I'm just not sure which way to go. Refurbishing the old seats with new cushions and leather (or fabric) looks to be about $1K each. However, I could get Corbeau or similar seats, with a seat bracket, for less.

Or, like of a lot of other folks here, I could score some aftermarket seats for considerably cheaper, spend a little time fab'ing a bracket on my own, plus a little tweaking here and there, and have more comfort and more money in my pocket (but more time/effort on my part).

So many options. I like simple and easy. Buying brand new (or slightly used) with included brackets seems to fit the bill. Any reason why I should refurb my original seats, other than keeping everything "Yota"?

I found the only advantage to a 100 is the arm rest. Man, what a difference. So that would be my first criteria, no matter what the cost, which would rule out OEM for me.

My neck hurts every road trip from the cholo lean.

Yeah good point. The front seats of my Gen 1 Tundra have armrests. It makes a big difference in comfort.

I think there is a thread where a guy installed some Land Rover LR3 seats, which had armrests. He needed to fab his own brackets and had a few fitment issues. IMO, it seemed like a lot of work, but they looked really nice once installed.
