Phildoh - seats look awesome - mine are on the way out and were never comfortable for me - bad hip. How difficult was the swap? I noticed some "universal" brackets offered by Corbeau - since it's a daily driver I don't have a lot of downtime nor can I fab my own bracket or anything like that - looking for a relatively simple bolt on install - possible?

I dropped in a set from a Porsche Boxster that I picked up from local junkyard. Wheeled all last week in Colorado and was extremely comfortable. Had to fab up brackets, and I did recover them, but WOW was it worth it. My father in law has huge back issues and he was very happy how they kept him locked in.

holy s*** those recaros are nice !

details on model ?

Recaro Style Topline -- topline includes electric controls, heaters and vents.

A lot of guys in the 60 forum swear by the procar elite (or elite lumbar if you're into that sort of thing). IMO the look fits just about any vehicle and heating elements can be added to just about any seat via dorman or the like. Vents are more useful to a guy like me than heaters :o

Im curious about the same thing. I did about 800 miles in my seats last weekend. I got home on Sunday and my neck and back was hurting until Wednesday. I've gotta do something about it. If I can't take a trip in it, it's useless to me.

I bought a Corbeau BAJA XRS seat after talking to Phildoh about his. Corbeau offers a direct bolt in bracket for the Land Cruisers as well, but they make it at the time of order, so don't expect it to ship right away.

As far as the seat itself, I cannot fully explain how much better it is that stock, at least for me. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs, and it fits me well. The extra support under the back of my thigh was the best, and I can drive for several hours now before getting fatigued.

Not cheap, but worth it if you drive a lot.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any pictures?

What is the seat belt situation with the Corbeau seats? I found that a Land Rover Discovery II is perfect for the FJ80, since the seat belt is separate from the seat and bolts to the floor. The FZJ80 it is part of the seat, and it seemed like aftermarket applications would be risky, but Corbeau might be DOT approved. Is the seat belt part of your replacement seat?

I'll get a picture soon, but I took the seat belt receiver part off the factory seat and installed it on the Corbeau bracket. They put a hole where it should mount. You'll need to experiment using washers to get the spacing correct, but it works fine on mine.

I install BMW sport seats, E46 if my memory serves me today. Very comfortable, I spent a day out on the trails at Rausch creek a couple weekends back, never even thought about the seat. For someone with a bad back, that is a great thing!
@JeepinPete What Bracket did you use to mount the E46 seat?

I dropped a set of Celica GT seats in my offroad rig. fabbed up brackets again. Much nicer fit!! pics to come.

Nice work! My wife has had her Celica since 2002. Her seats are super comfortable. We've driven her car all over the east coast and driver fatigue never really sets in.

Great to hear. I plan on putting 4 point belts in, so the opening is perfect. Seat heaters and covers to come too.

Oem Cloth seats give an extra inch over stock leathers and are a ton cooler temp wise on long trips........and also weigh a ton less.

this.
i much prefer the cloth over the leather oems.
i can't get the leathers in a place i like them.
the clothes do not have that problem.

Were you able to get all the controls on those recaros to work?
Hows the back spacing for taller people?

Hey El Cid, are those Corbeaus vinyl? Are they slippery and hot or have there been advances in vinyl?
