I just pulled a pair of seats out of a 2006 Scion xB to put into my 60. They are black cloth and will be a huge improvement over the flat stock seats as far as lateral support in those tippy wheeling situations. I'll post up pics when I get to getting them installed (when it warms up a bit here in NY)

Here is a web swipe photo so you can see what they look like for now...

Nice - Will love to hear about this as I have a 2006 Scion xB. I will tell you the Mrs and I like our 89 4Runner seats (in the LC) the PO put in, too.

Nice. I was thinking about doing something like this before I got my new seats. Are you going to re-use the stock sliders or try to mount the seats lower than that?

what kind of labor does something like that require? is it a hard conversion to make?

They look amazingly like stock FJC seats as well - might be another option to look at in the junk yards.

Labor? Dunno yet. I will post up the process and result... but it is going to be a while.

Sliders? Dunno yet, I was thinking to keep the Scion sliders and adapt them to the 60 mounting holes... I'll know more once I get to look at it.

FJC Seats? Scion is Toyota right? So no surprise there.

I was not impressed with the FJC seats on long drives. Maybe it's because the seat bottoms didn't have enough rake for my liking, but I was not a big fan.

I like how the older 4Runner seats have a longer leg on them more support, too - xB is a little shorter. As far as install - - looking at both, it may be as simple as bolting on - I'd need to measure.

Yeah, I'm 6' tall and I was a bit concerned by the short butt to knee length of these seats... I guess I won't really know until I use them. I did 2 hours in an FJC recently in the passenger seat and didn't notice a problem though.

I find my FJC seats to be OK; definitely better than my stock 40 seats but not near as comfy as the stock seats in my '91 FJ80. I guess every ass is different, 'cause it seems like lots of folks complain about their FJ80 seats but I loved mine, they fit me like a glove. I guess I should look for some to put in the 40.

Well I have the passenger side installed... pics will come soon.

The seat is pretty darn good... a step up from stock seats in the lateral support area. It was a learn-as-you-go process and I probably put 6 R&D hours into it... the driver's side will be a breeze relatively speaking.

I used the xB sliders with the cruiser mount brackets adapted/welded to them. The xB footprint is wider than the cruiser seats. I had to remove ALL of the "stuff" between the slider and the actual seat bottom body. This was needed to drop the seat to something close to stock height... I removed about 5" of height. I also had do do some mumbo-jumbo to get the seat to be able to be moved as far back as the stock seat (to deal with long leg syndrome)

The xB seats have a taller and thicker back. This means they are a little more of a presence for back seat passengers. Back seat leg room is reduced a bit too with the seats fully rearward.

For the driver's side I am thinking of trying to use the stock cruiser sliders with an adapter to the xB seat bottom body.

I'll post up pics soon explaining all of this...

What kind of a rake did you set the seat bottoms at?

The seat feels just about stock, angle-wise. That would be pretty easy to change some given the way the slider mechanism is bolted to the seat bottom. The way I'm thinking of doing the driver's side will mean that it will be more easily customizable still.

Seats are installed. They make a WORLD of difference when wheeling by anchoring me in the seat - no more sliding around on the off-camber spots - and provide a very solid feeling when driving in general.

I ended up keeping the Scion sliders and welded the FJ60 stock slider-to-floor brackets to them. I basically removed everything under the Scion seats up to the shell that makes up the seat bottom/structure. I had to recess the sliders up into this shell to get the seats low enough so then I had to cut chunks out of the front and back of the shell in line with the sliders so that they would slide forward/back. The seats adjust front/rear with the stock lever under the seat front - although I did have to bend it significantly to get it to work.

Pictures coming in a while... the site is not cooperating right now...

Here are the pictures. I still need to pull the fabric tight under the bottom of the bottoms...

It does look intrusive but it isn't. I can't hit my heels on it unless I really try. I have driven it around town, getting in/out a lot, on the highway and wheeling pretty hard and I never bumped into it.
