Hi,

my FJ did not come with A-trac or rear e-locker (Auto trans). Have fitted an auto diff locker (lockright) in the rear and am thinking of installing a Detroit truetrac in front. Any comments or suggestions about this mod is highly appreceated!
FYI, do most of my off-road in soft desert sand (Dubai)....

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi

While i am nto sure there is a truetrac for the FJ front, i can only tell you go a head.

I used to own a kzj73 with 2 truetracs and it was unbeatable in African sand. you will love it. Much better than any auto locker in sand.

The only down side, you will feel immediately when 1 tire is more deflated than the other one, a bit or torque steer, but if you have a good gauge you won't see it.

On rock crawling, you got to learn to use your break, they act like lockers but be smooth of your CV joint won't like the abuse, don't jump on the break, apply them smoothly and you will enjoy it:)

truetrac is a great front diff, and great in snow and sand. IMO, terrible for rock crawling, but doesn't sound like that's your intent anyways.

As noted, you can 'brake lock' it...little practice required, but works well.

:hhmm: Again true track all the way for sand and mud, but i really don't remember having seen a truetrac for front FJ, juts liek there isn't one for the 9.5" toy diff:ban:
