About the Event

Trailboss: Tony
What: Day Run on Sunday or Overnight from Saturday to Sunday. Day run on Sunday! Meet us at the campsite on Sunday by 9AM.
When: Saturday, May 28 @9AM (departing Minden)
Meet Up: Maverik Gas Station, Minden - 1651 NV-88, Minden, NV 89423
Where: Mt. Patterson, CA - Camping at Desert Creek, NV Saturday night
Trailhead: Desert Creek Rd off Hwy 308 in Wellington, NV
Travel Time: 1.5 hours from Minden to the trailhead | Sat trail time 6 hours
Trail Rating: 4-5 on our scale - You can do it with a stock vehicle, but you'll be more comfortable on 33-inch tires. The south face of Patterson is uncharted for the club, so all bets are off for trail ratings... But we saw Jeeps go that way and apparently they made it, so Yota's should do just fine.
What to Bring: Cool weather gear (layers), tent, water, snacks, food, chairs, recovery gear, HAM radio, and at least 5-gallons of spare fuel if you think you'll need it. It is 85 miles between gas stations if you don't explore offshoots or if we don't have to detour or backtrack.
Frequencies: 146.460 for trail coms / alt 146.052
Local Repeaters (monitored):
  1. Pri. 146.880
  2. Alt. 146.655
  3. 70 CM - 440.050
Details
Desert Creek has several campsites along the creek. The coordinates in the link above are for a favorite of mine. It is about an hour from the trailhead and there are tons of trails to explore once camp is set. The trail to Patterson Peak is epic. Sweeping views of the Eastern Sierra-Nevada Range, multiple water crossings (low level), and hidden forests. It is high-altitude wheeling at its finest.
