Just got my truck back from High Performance Exhausts Tucson Arizona 1010 S. Plumer 85719 they installed my rock rails (powder coated from demello) and a magnaflow muffler. Rock rail I would have thrown on my self, except for the modification I had done to the rear link was in the way for the sliders. So Jimmy their welder cut back 3/16" plate on rear link mod and spot welded the sliders on (looks awesome and will hold up to the pounding). These sliders are sooo nice they stick out just perfect for protection and can be used as a step (even w/ the door closed). A BIG THANKS TO JASON FROM DEMELLO for his professionalism, through this whole process (very responsive when asked for something). UPS I can't thank:satan: , since the boxes were ripped and wet when received (even though boxes had fragile written on them)and one pair of sliders were missing hardware:ugh:(The guys @ HPE took care of that) The magnaflow exhaust gives old Betsy a new voice (very nice but not too much) she's sounding much more tuff. Also on the magnaflow, the muffler is tucked much further up in the body then the OEM version, no more rock scraping) Will post pics soon just have to get them developed (film, who uses that stuff?):popblood: Now I can calm my girlfriend down since there is added protection from rocks!!!!! Much more enjoyable 4 wheeling (nerves)!!!! You can see on this first picture that I dented my rocker panel before this install (ooppps)

No, I get all my work done for almost free:eek: (w/ trade) I came up w/ the idea after smashing the housing for the rear link, all I did was tell their welder what I wanted, and it was done!!! I recommend this mod, it really holds up on the trail (no bending what so ever) 3/16" is much better than 8th" steel. All we had to do is get a larger bolt to go through the link. When I went to put on the rock rails I realized that the link skid was in the way, so I didn't install them my self. Brought it down to the exhaust shop , and they put them on for me w/ minor mod to the skid as you can see in the pics above. Now all I need is some solid rear links.

Looks good.
Do you have a part # on the Magnaflow?

I ran a Magnaflow on my '91 4Runner, and dug the low tone.
The stock FJ sounds pretty good, but I miss the lower/louder tone of the Magnaflow.

If you can, get me a vid or wav file of it, and I will input it on this page that I built many years back.

I have two shops by me that carry Magnaflow.
Also does ther stock muffler unbolt, or did they have to hack/burn it off?

I'll get the part # from the exhaust shop, they had to cut off the can, this muffler helps with the shifting of MT and the RPM drop that has been stated on some of these threads and gives a little bit more horse power. Need to see how it functions on the trail w/ the gearing in 4low.

Great.
So you picked up some tourqe in the bottom end, or mainly feel it in the high end?

I rarely take my FJ past 60 MPH, mainly looking for good performance from low to abuot 60 MPH.
Not that the performace is bad at all now.

Coming from a 3.slow in the 4Runner, this FJ is like the Enterprise at warp 9.

Nice Sliders! I love the power of the FJC too.

Going into warp speed captain!!! She has some more get up and go, even at low speeds. Haven't had a chance to bring her up to highway speeds, so we shall see. When they first put it on I was wondering where my muffler can went, since it's now soo receased into the frame (that's a good thing because I use to ding my OEM version on rocks ocationally)
Thanks for the comments guys!!!!!

I must admit I have not crawled under the rig since last July went I put on my Bentup sliderz.

Since the can sits up higher now, is there an insulation of some sort to keep the can from burning anything?

If so, that is good, and even better with it tucked up out of the way.

I don't believe it is higher as far as the top of it goes, but good question, going outside to check on that right now. Will get back to ya.

Okay went outside plenty of clearance, it's just that the can is smaller.

The part # for the 2.25" inlet/outlet 14" muffler is 11225.
The part # for the 2.50" inlet/outlet 14" muffler is 11226.

I had the first one on my 4Runner, are you running the latter one?

14" is the size of the can only, and does not include the 2" per end for the tubes which would classify it as an 18" muffler.

I will probably go with the 11226 if the FJs tubing is 2.50" which I suspect it is for that size of an engine.

Going to call the exhaust shop by me today to see if that is what they recommend.

I am ready for more rumble :D

Thanks, that is the one I planned on getting.
Same one as I ran on the 3.0 '91 4Runner, but sized at 2.50" instead of 2.25".

I know you love the sound, I really digged mine, I can only imagine the throatier 4.0 over the 3.0 blowing through the can.

Looks like I will indeed end up with that next week, or tomorrow if I can find time after work.

Thanks,

Took her offroad this last weekend to test my new gear. Everything is perfect, the muffler did not effect the crawl speed, and the sliders never hit (was concerned w/ clearance). But it was nice to have the protection just in case (much less worries). Now I have to start saving up for my lift (10 months later:mad: ) Hey Corey, did you get your muffler? If so how do you like it?
