Defeat Auto-Lock in a 97?

Can the feature that automatically locks the doors at startup in my 97 be defeated?

I do actually have a question about my own question/answer. Shocker.... Steps 1-3 are clear, even an ape like me understands. But the bottom part, not numbered as an instruction, am I to do that -- turn the key to ON 5 times?
