Well charlie dumped a goooood amount of rain here in FL. So the trails had about 4ft of water on them. And its not like ya can just turn around when ya see that deep of water, well I cant anyways, I always welll yulp were just gonna have to drive thru it (evil grin).

anyway that s*** turned out to be all the way up to my head lights. My brother sitting shot gun goes holy s*** i can touch the water (as he sticks his hand out the window). And it turns out my door seals arnt all that great so my carpet is been soaked every since that. its been sitting with the doors open for a few days now. the carpets have soda cans underneath them to let air flow over them. but this is taking forever. does anyone have any HOT ideas on drying this s*** out? I think im taking the back seat out after this and the carpeting in the back. im afraid this is gonna start smelling like death in there. :princess:

thanks,
-Al

Wet carpets

You'll have to pull that carpet or it'll start to mold/stink. As a Jeep guy...this is one thing I know. I also tend to get in pretty deep with my TJ since I got the snorkle installed. :D

Pull that carpet.....and powerwash it while you have it out! :)

I would put some hair dryers or a wet vacuum cleaner exhaust hose under the carpet. Anything that could move air quicker. Ex leafblower, hot wired dryer vent, box fan,etc.. Don't forget the carpet deoderizer.

PS, just make sure the motors don't overheat and start a fire. Good luck and tell us how things dried out.

Doesn't the 60 have rocker drains?

Carpet out

I sunk a Bronco back in college and tried to take the easy way out(surprise surprise) and not remove the carpet. I had a Greenhouse Effect science lab in that thing for a few months till I broke down and took out the carpet.

haha, well i pulled the carpet last nite. as for pulling the plugs on the rockers, it prob keeps water in as well as it keeps it out. haha.
thanks for the info guys,
-Al

that crap under the carpet (i think it's called jute) will soak up the whole damn gulf of mexico! good and only move was to pull it and let it thoroughly dry before reinstall

jjbo,
yulp you deff. right on that one. i ripped all of it off the bottom of my carpet the other nite. i dont care if its louder because i know its just gonna get wet agian :D

Next time, close your windows and turn your blower on full blast. That creates a positive pressue in the cab which helps keep water out.

As an ex tour truck, my '89 FJ62 has plowed through dozens and dozens and dozens of river crossings up to its headlights (the only person I know who could really use a snorkle) and never leaked a drop. These were usually only a few to say 15 yards across, but we did a lot of them! The truck has had all of its seals siliconed monthly since it was a year old, and they are all like new, so this certaily helped also.
