Ok so I just got my 1993 fzj80 the other day and it does have a few small things that need to be worked out. First is the dash lights ie: the red light saying there is a door open comes on when you hit a bump on the road. I have checked every door and yet there is nothing open or not latched. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? Also, the previous owner told me that the oil light comes on once in a while and blinks then goes off. It did this to me yesturday, even though I just had the oil changed and its full. Sooooo I was wondering about that one as well. Thanks for any advice on this. Chans

ps I picked this cruiser up three days ago for 4250.00 due to the second owner not doing any maint. on it. So I took it down yesturday to get all the fluids changed out to be on the safe side and they told me that this rig has been serviced before..all the oil looked nice and good!! Had it all changed out anyway but the point was that this rig actually has had some stuff done to it...sweet!! Oh ya, I am still in the dog house for buying it though..wife wont even drive in it! Damn!!

Congrats on the purchase! You'll have many years together, regardless of what happens to the wife.... ;)

I'd check the spring loaded door switches first. Do the interior lights blink on occasionally? If so, one of those is most likely the culprit. If not, it sounds like a slight loose wire to the bulb or something. Unfortunately you'll have to do some digging around behind the dash.

If you haven't already done so, order the Factory Service Manual (FSM) from CruiserDan here on Mud. It'll be very handy as you get to know your new addition.

I've seen some oil lights on the 93+ Cruisers that are pretty sensitive to the oil level, even when the vehicle is tilted up or down a hill. Most likely the oil light is functioning fine. Keep an anal-retentive eye on the oil consumption of the rig until you get to know it.

Cheers! and Welcome! :flipoff2:

check the oil about 5 minutes after shutdown and see if it reads lower, the oil filter on the 1FZ can drain giving a false high reading after sitting for a wile.

Check the door striker too. I think on the 93, there are 4 screws that hold the striker to the "B" pillar for the front doors and the "C" pillar for the rear doors. If one of these is even slightly loose, the "door ajar" light will flash on bumpy roads. When I had the same problem, it was 1 of the 4 screws on my front passenger door. That light would flash on bumpy roads, left turns and even when I had the fan on high (I guess the internal cabin pressure was high enough to push the door outward a bit.
