Dash thinks rear liftgate is open, but its not.

I just installed a replacement rear upper liftgate. The old one has some damage that would not buff out. Thankfully MUD member jLB hooked me up with his old one. Even came with a mud sticker for added hp. Everything on it works great, and it opens and closes fine. The only problem I have is that when the liftgate is closed the "door open" indicator in the dash is illuminated. I didn't have any problems with the busted liftgate. Where is the sensor that determines is the door is closed or not? I did the swap last night and took it on a quick test drive. The door open indicator is annoying, but even worse is that the green light around the key stays lit up and reflects in the window like a HUD display. Terrible for night driving. I made the swap last night and figured I would jump back in it this afternoon when I get home. Thanks!

I believe the open/closed switch is in the upper hatch latch mechanism.

I think the guy sold me a junk hatch.....lol. I'll take a look at it this evening and possibly swap it out with my old one. I am thrilled to have a rear window again. Just in time for a Road trip tonight! Thanks again for the hatch!!

That guy that sold it to you seems kinda shady!

You should've just taken the white upper liftgate, lower tailgate and tail light from that one sitting to your left!

I'd check that the lower loop is getting deep enough in upper latch, and verify the hatch to body electrical connections.

I will eventually take parts off the one to the left. I bought it Tuesday night after I had already picked up yours.

Using a phillips screwdriver to manipulate the latch, to confirm that the switch is in the latch...

Open (rear dome light on):

Half closed (rear dome light still on):

Closed (Rear dome light off):

(release the latch with the door handle before you try to close it)
