I was replacing some dash switches and accidentally short the mirror switch. The LED replacement i got was wrong and when i tried to troubleshoot why its not coming on it accidentally shorted out. Now I lost all buttons back light except door switch that was on from ignition on.

Things I have checked:
  1. Checked all fuses and none are blown both from fuse panel in engine compartment and under dash.
  2. Checked dimmer switch positions. Nothing changes
  3. No other system seems effected except
    1. E-Locker switch which got pilot from this same circuit.
    2. My auxiliary light panel which also got pilot from one of the dash light
What else can be wrong?
  1. Is there other hidden fuses location?
  2. How do you check for bad rheostat in the dimmer switches?

Anybody got the wiring diagram for this they can share?

Well, looks like the rheostat got burnt.

Interesting. How did you track down the failure.

I had the same failure but mine was a dash fuse blown.

I was really scratching my head. I do continuity test on all fuse. Could not find any that is blown. All functions are normal except all the light that was controlled by rheostat. The burt smell was right there when it happen. I was trying to diagnose the replacement bulb for mirror switch. It seems i got wrong one. Its too small and can move sideways in the socket.

Read some one mention online that if the rheostat was bad it would not light up at all. Decide to open it just for the hell of it. New cost $136. Ouch 😭. Found used one on eBay for $20. Hopefully it would be good.

@AVLTOYOTECH thanks for diagram👍

My hat is off to you sir! I doubt I would ever have found that. Good work.
