D Drive Indicator light out?

Try slapping the dash several times. My D light went out a few years ago, and this worked. It went out again about a month ago, and slapping it brought it back to life again. Sounds crazy, but worth the free try.

yeah these UZJ100s are freaks...they like a little slapping and abuse to keep them happy!:hillbilly:

however, they only come in one shade of gray.

PS. i love having mine out like everyone else.

Mine is also out. But the one that is also currently out that bothers me is the center diff lock light. That, I believe, I will need to fix.

Mine just went out and now I see why this is NOT in the FAQ section LOL!!

Sidenote- does anybody know if the turn signal indicators in the dash use the same bulbs as the "D" or what size those bulbs are?

Thanks.

I was just about to say the same thing regarding the 80. If you've owned an 80, you're used to no D light. Didn't even notice it was out in my 100 for several months. Lol

So mine was off for the first year of ownership and then, to my surprise, started working again a couple months ago as others have reported. Has been working ever since. Obviously an intermittent connection somewhere. Unlike others, I don't care much one way or another. Doesn't bother me on or off but my marginal preference is that all the original parts on the vehicle work as they did when new, not enough to actually fix it if it goes out again though.

Apparently if you love and care for your 100 long enough, the D light comes back on. First time lit since I've bought it in 2001. Must be enjoying its time in Hawaii.

I didn't hassle trying to find the right light to purchase... I just took the one from the "L" and swapped it into the "D" - one it was likely never used that often so its probably close to new... and 2 I wont be bothered as much as im rarely in "L"

I replaced my Park and Drive bulbs, but because my 'telescope' motor is fried, I had little room to sneak out the instrument cluster and I scratched the top of the steering wheel clamshell. Oh, well. If I did this again, I'd try to disconnect the telescope motor and pull the steering wheel as far out as possible.

when I took mine for a test drive the first thing I noticed was the D light was out. I just chuckled. The D light in my 80 comes back on occasionally (the dash slap helps on those too) but the one on my 100 is totally dead, I think. It won't be replaced, on either truck.

^ Best mod ever - no illuminated D light.

cant say this applies to all model years but for 2001 and other model years when 2 bulbs are out at same time of the PRND2L dash lights it will trigger some other DTC dash lights like VSC TRAC or OFF maybe one other one from my experience and others ive read here until at least 1 of the non working bulbs are replaced.

Toyota endurance is legendary.
The "D" lamp in my Hundy went out 7 years ago, and with no servicing or maintenance involved, the lamp is STILL out with no signs whatsoever of it coming on again.
