Toyota endurance is legendary.
The "D" lamp in my Hundy went out 7 years ago, and with no servicing or maintenance involved, the lamp is STILL out with no signs whatsoever of it coming on again.
I have over 200k on my original burnt-out D light. It’s one of those things I know I can rely on 100%. @Bigtex, that’s truly a rare occurrence… I’d replace with a known-bad bulb and keep an eye on it.

cant say this applies to all model years but for 2001 and other model years when 2 bulbs are out at same time of the PRND2L dash lights it will trigger some other DTC dash lights like VSC TRAC or OFF maybe one other one from my experience and others ive read here until at least 1 of the non working bulbs are replaced.
I think just my D bulb was broken and got those other VSC lights. So I decided to replace it and now my whole dash is wonky.

I had to remove the green board since the bulbs are not accessible so it’s a bit of a delicate chore.

First time, I replaced the P and D bulbs. Then the R stayed on constantly and P was the only other gear bulb that worked. Turn signal dash bulbs did not work either nor some of the gauge bulbs.

Second time around I put back my original P bulb (only new bulb is D). P, R and left turn signal work as well as all the gauge bulbs. But no other gear bulbs nor the right turn signal!

In other words there seems to be some kind of gremlin messing with me. I might try removing the D bulb as many of you have done and just hope the VSC lights don’t come on again. If there is some logical reason for this madness please like enlighten me!
