Best. Mod. Ever. Keep it out...
/This. Annoying bright-as-hell green eyeball staring you in the face, particularly at night. Spoils the whole dash. Mine died 2 years ago, will not be replaced.

LOL!

Didn't expect these answers!
Much easier on the eyes at night.

But the bulb is removable/replaceable. Instrument cluster needs to be removed...can be done without pulling the steering wheel but FAR easier in the end to yank the wheel. Steering wheel surround (the plastic around the column below the wheel itself needs to go, and that involves removing the lower panel on the driver's side.

So, a :banana:job, a cheap part, but a lot of labor.

Try driving for a week or 2 at night and see what you think.

Steve.

Yep, leave it out.
Every now and then I put it in a lower gear at night and I'm always caught off gaurd looking for what's wrong! No "D" is very nice at night. Enjoy.

When I bought mine I noticed their was no light. I actually thought this was how it was supposed to be. Took this forum to tell me I had a free mod courtesy of the PO.

Been driving with it off for 3 years! It's the best self mod my TLC did to itself!

After 2 years mine just started coming on again. It was never burned out after all.

Now it annoys me.

I guess I'm in the minority camp. Mine died, and instead of buying a new bulb, I just swapped it with the "L" bulb. Green light doesn't bother me.

 So you took the instrument cluster apart and reinstalled and didn't get a new bulb for the "L"?

Try slapping the dash several times. My D light went out a few years ago, and this worked. It went out again about a month ago, and slapping it brought it back to life again. Sounds crazy, but worth the free try.
