My ADD axles weren't terrible. But I removed my axle nut, then the brakes, then the lower ball joint and swung the knuckle out of the way as I beat the axle out of the hub with a piece of 2x4.

Use a large zip tie and place it in the groove that the boot seats in and pull the boot over it. This will stretch the boot longer and increase the distance between the ridges. I didn't do this and ended up replacing the boots after I rubbed a groove in them. The OEM boots never did this, but the aftermarket ones did. I'm about 2.5" lifted.
 
I went searching for just this procedure recently. Steve found the same great writeup that I also found. ToyotaNation has a video in its how to thread that only shows how to separate the birfield from the cv, using the pipe slam method, but not how to actually R&R the cv, as I wanted to know.

Sure wish these Tacos were still solid axle in the front. So much easier to work on...
