Don't post much over here but figured I'd show off a new mod. Had the guys over at RPM in Escondido CA build a custom rear bumper for my rig. Concept was simple enough. I wanted a tire carrier for my 35" and a chopped rear crossmember. Also I HATE plastic, so eliminating the corners was a plus.
First mod was to chop out a good 2" of material out of the rear fenders so the 35"s fit perfect at full stuff. The work was done professionally at Euro Pacific Body in Vista, amazing shop to work with! Once that was done and passed the flex test for rub, they rhino lined the exposed metal to protect the body from the rocks and mud bound to get stuck up in the spacing required for flex between body and corners. Then off to RPM where the crossmember was chopped and the new high clearance bumper grafted on. A 2" receiver is recessed in and additional support below to the frame is added as the main recovery point. They have a water jet cnc machine in house so a trick little Toyota love was added for flare in the corners. I always liked stingers, so that's what we did. It's a fold down carrier, eliminating the big spindle. Also makes mounting and un mounting the big spare a breeze. I keep a large job box in the back with only spare parts and tools. The rear seat area with bases removed is where the cargo for regular access is kept ie fridge and snacks. If something on my rig breaks, ill open the rear otherwise I have a better reason to tell the weaker links to carry their own damn tools.
Ill be painting it myself, still undecided on black or clear coat. This is my trail rig, not a DD so the abuse shows and touching up with a can is always nice.
Enjoy the pics. If anyone is interested in these guys work let me know and I can put in a good word. I don't work for either, just love their work and the fact that they are wheelers as well.
Fender cut
Flex test on Lower Big Johnson, Hammers, Johnson Valley w/All Pro crew
Rhino lined corners, chopped crossmember and corners rough placement
