I have tried to search this to no avail. What is cruiser lean and what can be done to solve it? I have new suspension, but a driver's side lean.

Thanks

did you install old man emu ?

nope, i went with an SOR kit.

is it possible you put the wrong leaves on , the drivers side on the passenger and visa versa ?

x2....

You need to pull your rear springs flip them over(only to inspect to see which leaf pack is taller) and the taller of the 2 go on the drivers side

Yeah, but... Why?

What is there on our trucks that weighs the left rear down like that? Or is it the perches are different distances from the shackles?

WTF, over?

Edit: I miss your old Avatar. Bro wuz on!

I think the cruiser lean is the frame but nobody is for sure....it just is:D....weight could be a issue maybe?

I only mean flip them over to visually inspect to see which leaf pack is taller .....hence the taller of the 2 goes on the drivers side.

Tell ya what when i put my springs in on the drivers side rear I almost needed porta-power to get them suckers lined up:whoops:

Repairing Cruiser lean is my next project. I spoke with Nils at ARB USA customer support and he advised the same thing: Identify what you have and change positions to obtain the desired affect.

The OME springs on the truck I recently purchased had legible stinciling with the OME numbers, but...

The part numbers were partialy covered by the perches and ID was impossible. The spring packs are the same and the leafs are the same thickness.

I'll document the process AND try to determine WHY Cruiser lean exists.

I am here to serve.....

Seems EVERY 60 series I have ever seen has had "cruiser lean" to the DS.
Are aftermarket spring lifts set up to correct this?

According to the tech I spoke to at ARB USA, the OME's are set up for correction. The rear springs are different part numbers, with the DS pack being arched more (and by extrapolation longer and more susceptable to sagging???)

My thought is that if the aftermarket is having to accomodate the lean, then the factory spring packs must also have been made with the longer driver side pack???

Since the diff is on the right side, I wonder if there's a difference in the distances of the perch surfaces to the centerline of the axle. Maybe this is the need for different lengths.

Anyone know if this is accurate?

Rick

The sor kit shows identical part numbers for both fronts and both rears. So I guess its not set up for correction. I'll call on Monday and find out if I missed something. If its not set up for correction, whats a guy to do?

Tell SOR to go fawk themselves cause they know cruisers need the correction:D

X2 on the SOR remark- the part numbers are the same, after I installed my springs and found the lean was worse than the stock springs, I called and asked what I could do about the problem- the guy on the phone said that the springs are like that " because the minning roads in Australia are typically slanted and that the lean compensates for that",- no kidding that's what he told me, I also asked him what he drove , he said he drives a corrola, in all the bussiness i've done with them it's the only problem to date, I see that CCOT advertises their springs to " lift and level" youe cruiser. anyway I've got my $1400. suspension with a lean sutable for any supposed minning road,.....also they recommended using a longer shackle on the one side- as if I would ever hald ass my 60 in such a fashion.

WTF? You're serious? Can you guys share a photo of your lean? A neighbor of mine just installed the CCOT lift springs with their extended shackles. Looks real good, and I see no lean.

????? Wow! Was is SOR that suggested the longer shackle or CCOT? Also, maybe I'll just wait till the springs start to sag and then replace them with OME? I am beginning to question SOR's ability to satisfy normal expectations of their products...:meh:

Isn't the cruiser lean due to the engine/trans being offset quite a bit to the left? Unfortunately the picture is not from stright ahead, but the engine is fairly close to the DS frame rail.

Reading this…I am so happy that I went with the Old Man Emu's.

worshhim - Call SOR and see what they can do for you; I hope you get it solved.

Well I called SOR today and what I was told is to check the torque on the U-Bolts, and also was asked if I have sufficiently flexed the new springs (which I've been driving for a year...wonder if they've flexed enough?) Also they told me to call back and talk to there tech guys. In short, if I've done everything right, there should be no lean....:bang:

UPDATE...called the tech guy at SOR and nothing...tighten u-bolts, grease shackles, dangle suspension (lift truck frame) and lubricate spring packs. For some reason, I don't feel like he really knew what the problem was or wanted to help solve it...again:bang:
