Should we sent the transmission to you for the mods, or just do it locally (valve body replacement mainly)?
Installing the valve body is super easy and can be done at home especially if you do it when the unit is not installed in the truck so no do not send me your transmissions! There will be a refundable core fee for the valve bodies so you will end up shipping me the VB that gets replaced!

The VB’s come with great instructions

I have from a reliable source they will put more in production when there is demand so don’t panic about being able to buy a reman right now
Just wanted to stagger expenses a bit…given C&C company history so far, I have 100% faith that this is coming!

Bellhousings, WAT Nomad VB and large cast pan barely took an hour to get on the this morning

Hard to see but the cast pan is about 1.75” deeper

So that's what they look like before they're painted with road crap. Sexy.

@Cruisers and Co you doing anything to beef up the trans internals?

I don’t believe a 442, 343 or yes even the 750 is up to the task of 300-500whp. The Aussies for a long time have said don’t push these trans over 250 without upgrades or you will regret it. All our bigger HP builds run manual trans or we limit power in an auto for this very reason. More to the point I believe it is big torque that kills the trans when not built for it.

We can see double, even more torque than that out of the diesels vs say the 2uz.

Cheers
Stock? No. But the Supra guys push 1000HP+ through A340s, granted it takes a few billet pieces and a lot of valvebody and clutch work to make that happen. The A340s and A750s were used behind ~300HP engines in other applications.

Granted these are all gasoline applications, and not diesel.

Right.

I am/was not saying they can't be built for the power, simply that they are not in stock form. Unlike the 5spd manuals found in the heavier duty LC's, ie the H15x variety. These can handle the power stock.

Cheers

I don't think anyone needs to worry about strength of the box with the 1FZ in front of it. Even the turbo guys shouldn't need to worry and I am going to be dialing my setup to stage 2 as soon as the tuning for a "stock/SC/stage 1 turbo" is done. Between control with the Compushift + the Extreme VB, I have no worries the box will take what I put into it once I make the jump to stage 2.

My 80 has been making a 300 hp and 400 ft lbs at the crank (estimated) for 3 years on a unit that has no upgraded VB or Shift kit that has over 400K on it... I have been trying to kill it and it just wont die. I say this because the A750F is rated for more from the factory torque than the 343 and with the upgrades it will be even stouter by a lot.

I can vouch for how robust my A442 is with my stage 2. I mashed the skinny pedal more than needed! But i have the Nomad valve body and I'm at 311 at the wheels

If anyone wants to really compare the two transmissions GrimmJepeers calculator is really nice. It can do side by sides of different configurations, speeds, and rpm’s. I know Cruiser and Co has posted a few screen shots already.

Solid find! Thanks for sharing that

Hello,
I'm thrilled to hear about the 5-speed automatic transmission upgrade for the FZJ80 with the 1FZ-FE and A442F transmission. I've been wondering about the possibilities for the 88 to 90 FJ62 A440F transmission, especially regarding the split transfer case. Additionally, are there any plans for upgrading the 91-92 FJ80 A440F transmissions to a 5-speed automatic setup?

I understand that the only upgrade option from the A440F is the 5-speed manual, but I have come across quotes for conversion costs ranging from $11K to $16K for parts and labor. This amount seems quite steep compared to the truck's value.

If there happens to be a 5-speed automatic upgrade available, I would be very interested, and I'm willing to order 2 sets of the upgrades.

Thanks

Came in fast! Tucked away at my work storage unit for the goodies coming when available from @Cruisers and Co ;) 🦀 🔧
