Hey guys just wondering if any of the crawler guys here are running a droop setup and how they did it? My FJ40 Body on my AX10 Clone sits pretty high so I want a LCG without hindering my crawling ability too much. Any help would be awesome as I'm new to this. TIA.

I'm running droop in my Berg now. Basically it's just running without springs. There's pros and cons. When I was running a shafty it seemed to torque twist a ton. With MOA it doesn't as much although it will lift occasionally. A dab of reverse will usually put the tire back down. I also have huge amounts of belly clearance with my Rockstar chassis and curved rear lowers. If you have something that might catch you might not like it much.

The bottom line is it's really simple to try and see if you like it. Just take your springs off, or even just pull the spring retainer caps to check it out.

I've been doing some research on the topic and some run internal springs. I'm not sure what that does. What are the basic handling characteristics that will change? I'm sure I would change to bent lower links if I like it, but I really don't know what the pros and cons are.

Update: I decided against it since I'm having body clearance issues already with my new body. I did limit my shocks to max at about a pop cans height. I do have a quick question about my links though. Do I have to shorten the front if I shorten the rear?

I see where some are running the inner spring, but like you i don't really see an advantage to it over the external spring?

I do plan on putting my battery and ESC on little plastic mounts on top of the links tucked up near the body. Think this will help get my weight down lower and help on off-camber and sidehill stuff.

I don't know if you've checked out my other thread bu I have moved my electronics down low like you are thinking. I also cut and soldered my 6-cell nihm into a saddle pack for the front axle, now I just need a little bit of weight on the rear axle. My wheel widening adapters and white dot Rovers get here today so I have those to install but first I gotta get my wife's 4runner clutch back in.
