Hi Everyone,
Obviously this is my first post here but I have lurked a bit over the last year or so. I have an ‘04 GX470 with 340k miles that I have been playing with for a couple of years, mostly as a Daily Driver. Time has come to do a timing belt so I jumped in and tore the engine down myself. Mostly it was a good experience but I did learn of a few issues caused by previous maintenance. The small timing belt cover piece located down low on the drivers side was completely MIA. Going to have to source a new one. And the lower third of the timing belt area, around the oil pump housing, was filthy. I’m hoping those two are related and an easy fix. While I was cleaning stuff and preparing to rebuild I noticed the crank sensor appears to be much smaller in diameter than the hole it mounts into. Can anyone with experience weigh in on this? Is it normal or was the wrong sensor used if/when it was replaced?
