Hello,
A former Tennessean here looking for some help in the Memphis area on making my first Land Cruiser purchase.
Does anyone know anything about this rig? http://memphis.craigslist.org/cto/4175307479.html
I really like the '79 FJ40. Is there a mechanic in Memphis who knows vintage Land Cruisers who I could hire to give the vehicle a thorough inspection before I drive all the way to Memphis? The mileage they claim is a little concerning.
Here is the information they gave me on the rig:
"It is a ’79 I believe.
The body does not have any rust. It was stripped and painted factory blue several years ago. It is stored inside at my shop all year round as well. It has the factory engine, which is believe is a 2F engine code which means it’s a 4.2l inline 6. It has approximately 35k original miles on it.
We went through the engine and gave it a tune up, it runs great. It has all new brakes including rear disk brake kit installed and installed POWER STEERING which is as you know makes a huge difference in the drivability of these great little trucks."
Thanks a bunch,
Dave
