Just like the title says, the timing gear cover om my 12H-t is cracked.:frown:
It's only two small cracks, but enough to leak and make the engine all greasy. If i wanted that to happen i would have bought a Land Rover.
So the question is, can the cracks be welded and be sure that the welds won't crack again.
All i know that the material is cast alumium and it probably needs to be TIG welded.
What do the experts think of this.
I will post a picture later.

why not weld it? take if off and head to the shop for adivce.

you could clean it really well and use a sealant for the meantime if needed. But that is not a proper fix.

JB Weld is not an option because it's not available in The Netherlands. I'll try to locate a welder who also does TIG welding and see what they have to say.

I forgot to take my camera so no pictures.

Thanks Mark

It can also be mig welded. before going to the welder I would grind the cracks in a "v" pattern, then all you have to do is grind it smooth after.
