Hi everyone who know their FJCruisers. I do not own now, but my uncle has an 07 and pointed out to me that the rubber at the bottom of the door windows is cracking off. Not sure if its a common problem on the FJCruiser, but was wondering if its an easy fix. Kind of upsetting that something like this goes bad so quickly. And sorry, I didn't take any pics of it.

Thanks,
Clint

Clint,
A picture would definitely help because There is an inside and an outside rubber at the bottom of the window. Also there is an outside piece below the rubber. Either way I'm pretty sure you're talking about a dealer item here. I don't think it's been a common problem for them though. You might get a little more feedback from the FJ Forums or the FJ Northeasters. I hope this helps you. Steve

Hmmm, it will be interesting to see what others say … I've had my 07 since new and no issues with that plastic cracking (or any of the abundance of plastic on an FJ) … I agree its likely a dealer issue …
:)

Sounds familiar.
Little rubber strip that runs length of door along bottom of window? outside.
Mine was flapping in the breeze and peeling off. Little bit of adhesive and good as new.

I have an 08, and the suicide door rubber at the bottom of the windows is cracking. There is a thread on the blue room about this. Parts are cheap and easy to replace, I just havent gotten around to it yet.

I would say it is a common problem. 3 out of the 4 I test drove were cracked, peeling up, or missing. It is cosmetic only. If you peel it completely off it reveals a chrome strip. Paint that with Plastidip and it'll look stock again.

I haven't looked into replacing mine yet so I don't know the price, but it looks to be very simple to replace.

Good info! I have very little miles on mine and it's garage kept so I haven't noticed yet.

As long as its just a little cosmetic I don't think my uncle will care too much. Hopefully somebody knows a little bit more about how they are replaced.

Thank you very much. Sounds easy. I wonder what the special tool is. I remember on the old toyota pickups the belt molding was attached by these plastic clips. I wonder what the difference is with the new ones? I will let uncle know that its not too terrible.

I removed and reinstalled the ones on our shop FJC when I installed FJ Freedom Windows awhile back and I recall just prying them off and popping them back on. Don't quote me though.

I have an 07 as well and just had these replaces on the suicide doors.... They are 22.95 from the Toyota dealership.... It wasn't that bad after parts and install.....

Thanks for all the help guys. My uncle replaced his strips. I'm not sure what the total was but he said it was cheaper than he thought. Thanks again MUD!
