Events/Trails COVID Update: Revamped Right after Christmas Fish Creek Trip 12/26-27

Friends, some of us got exposed to COVID the 22nd and one of us is already sick and won't make the trip. I presently feel fine but due to the incubation period won't be able to home test until tomorrow. If I am negative and feeling well me and my boys are going. If not, I'll stay back, I'll post an update tomorrow morning.

However, given the uncertainty in COVID and the weather, I am going to change it up. I am not up for the epic packing up process just to get sick and have to put it all away while sick. Tomorrow the plan will be to meet at the I15 park and ride 8:30AM. We'll drive to to S2, Diablo, Fish Creek wash to Pole Line Rd. We'll squeeze lunch in the middle. We can set up and target shoot off of Pole Line where folks can depart at their leisure. If I make it, I am probably going to get a room in Ocotillo Wells for me and my boys so we can do some exploring Tuesday if the weather holds.

Comms: GMRS 22, FRS 22, or HAM 146.490. I don't have a CB in my truck anymore so if anyone is using that please let me know and I'll bring one.

Be on the lookout for another local trip in Feb. Maybe Baileys? Phulcum and I are still looking for that first trip for our 60's.

Awful news about Phulcrum. We were planning on coming up tomorrow and bringing a couple types of cornbread for the chili. No Tim chili now either. The weather sounds rough Tuesday. I'll monitor this thread for updates.

It sears my soul to miss the Mojave trip but I can't make it. To offset the searing blackness of regret I am heading to Fish Creek with The OneAndOnly Phulcrum and anyone else who wants to join. We were not able to get our 60's ready, too much to do and too busy this time of year, so Phulcrum and I will be in our usual trusty steeds. The high level plan is to wheel out to Fish Creek via Diablo Drop the morning of the 26th. We'll have lunch at the drop, head to camp, set up, and do some more exploring.

Dinner the 26th is themed chili! That should be very satisfying winter camping food though the weather looks amazing!

Monday 12/26, Meet at the I15 park and ride 8:30-9AM for wheels up by 9AM. We'll make our way S2 and beyond. Note that if Fish Creek is full we will probably head east of Split Mountain. I will update here just in case anyone is coming in later.

Tuesday 12/27: Eat a huge amazing breakfast, pack up, and head east of Split Mountain to BLMazing land to play with the pewm pewms. We can set up some targets around lunch time and plink for a few hours. We'll have lunch out there and likely hit the road early afternoon to be home for dinner.


It looks like we have about 5 trucks going so should be a fun group!
