corrosion/torsion bar

How about the torsion bar in the tail gate. I took mine apart because it was ripping the the cover off and causing horrible binding. I ended up reinforcing the torsion bar cover with more/bigger machine screws. But if i have to go back in again i may just cut the bar. Anyone ever do that?1970 pig

the torsion bar just makes it a little easier to raise the tailgate in my opinion. not mandatory to have in place

Mine had issues so I removed it. The gate is a little "heavier" with it gone but its no big deal really...
