So I was wondering what kind of set-ups everyone is using for cooking on their trailer.

We usually just leave the plywood cover on the trailer and put our dual burner Coleman on top of that. Lately I've been thinking of making a type of a shelf that would hang on the trailer using a set of brackets. The stove and maybe a small plastic conatiner that could be used as a sink? The "shelf" would have holes cutinto it to let the stove and "sink" drop into/thru the "shelf" to hold them better.

So whats everyone else using when you're off camping with your trailers?

Mike,

One of the nicest setups that I have seen, was a tailgate that could be removed and attached to the side of trailer as a cooking table. Sorry, I don't have any photos of this arrangement.

A Cabela's fold up kitchen...very useful, but a bit heavy and bulky. I'm thinkin well worth it right now though.

That would be a great idea. I don't have a tailgate to use though for that. I've thought of cutting a tailgate into the trailer which would solve the cooking platform issue, but I can't bring myself to do that.

Thanks Titan....
I have a small table that I use around the garage that has folding legs, but thats one more bulky thing to carry on in the trailer. The attached pic shows why I'm looking for ideas on something slick and compact to use. The trailer is usually packed to the rim with gear and stuff is hanging off the front and back as well.

Have you seen the AT trailers... Im planning on doing something like that but using some sort of plastic board..kinda like a cutting board...
1_shelf.jpg

It is wedge in between the fender and the trailer with some pegs on the fender itself to avoid slippage......

Unlike the AT's, my trailer has about 6" between the top of the fender and the trailer where the beds starts so I will have to drill and place a piece of aluminum to create the wedge I need.....

I load mine inside the trailer, caus it's so fu@#in big. :o

That is one huge set up but I bet everyone in the campground wished they had one once its all set up eh !!

I cook on a two burner camp stove off my tailgate when I go solo but it is really great if you have a group of folks going together. Three people can fit in the kitchen if need be.

Good luck on yours!

2 burner stove built in.:D

I have seen some one with a "shelf" that hooks over the bed rails for setting the stove on. Simple design, small and portable.

If you could put a beer tap handle on that bitch....it would have it all!!:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

Let's see PhotoGod do THAT!!....lol:flipoff2:

My cheapskate way will start by reworking a few old unused bookselves so that they put across the back of my trailer securely! Once I've used that a few times, I'll learn its weak points and start improving it.

Well, there's no way I'm giving up this trailer. We went to a Jp jam in AB once in the jeep and I swore never again.

This site is dangerous, there's so many good people and ideas here that it will never end. I just refuse to cut up the trailer & even hesitate to drill any extra holes in it.

A pit with coal!!! Thats funny. I've never eaten as much as I had during E2. You guy put on quite the spread. Thanks again.:clap:

ya i wouldn't whack up that trailer either really. too darned nice. but add-ons that don't require any permanent mods would be great!!!

i guess i neglected to mention it was a 15 foot long pit. lol :meh:

and as i said many a time already, we just had a great time, the food was no big deal. had fun feedin ya'll for the weekend.
