The whole idea (as I was taught in grade school)-- was that America was the place that made going out on your own, making something out of nothing, freedom and working hard to achieve something easy in the sense that everyone had the opportunity to do so. And GA of all places is a place that is welcoming of folks trying to start a new business and succeed and achieve.

You simply reside in the wrong half of Georgia.

Well, finally talked with my Post Master today (took 30 minutes to see him as he is a very important person--even though I had an appt scheduled).

I told him about the Stamps.com "scheduling service" they offer and he said "ah that company has been a nothin' but truble...." in his best southern accent.

Anyway, I had to 'splain to him what I was doing and the volume and what kind of service I wanted. He said fine so starting tomorrow I pick up service from my house on a daily basis.

What an ordeal.

Another step forward, the State of GA granted my LLC certificate and gave my my non-tax status. Woo Whoo!! Another ordeal to say the least.

It is amazing to me the hypocrisy inherent in the daily running of American democracy.

Nothing but heartache, paperwork, checks filled out, driving to and fro--nothing but damn hassle.

Everything to do this has been a Sisphyusian battle up the bureaucratic mountain.... to the detriment of folks that are waiting for responses to email, phone calls and PM's.

Anyway, enough of my soap box.

Onward.

Be well.

If only state/government/municipal workers had to earn their check with getting things accomplished. I can't count how many times I have gone to some sort of governing agency during a busy time and someone just takes a break or lunch because it's "that time". Coming from the service industry you would get weaned out pretty quick doing this. When getting my liquor license I wanted to give up during the process. 6 months of frustration I will never get back.
Hope it all works out for you and I can't wait to need to place an order with you in your new venture.

Welcome to the world of small to mid sized business in the U.S. Wait till you actually employ someone or have to deal with labor laws.

And remember, when you get to the point you feel successful
"You did not build that business, the government built it" according to our current dictat ... errr.... President ;)

I am not having a warehouse as of yet. Maybe when/if the business grows beyond me personally.

Yes, I am doing mechanical work for select clients that I have had long time relationships with.

hey, your graduate school time should have prepared you well for this :p

FOLKS:

On my shipping days (Tuesday/Thursdays/Saturdays), I am concentrating on shipping parts out to customers.

I will not be able to return any emails/PM's till later in the day when the shipping has been completed.

Thanks much.

Guy I know has a set of factory 60 series slider windows and needs a few parts to make them work again, something you could help him with?

Rob

Glad things are going well Onur. Got the new number in my phone. Building a list of parts. We'll call ya soon hopefully. My garage is full of junk, no place to work for a while.

A few more clarifications folks:

1. Quotes previously given from my previous position at Nalley will not be honored by me personally unfortunately. You are welcome to contact Nalley Toyota with your quote to have it fulfilled.

2. Business hours: I am available from 8am-6pm EST. anything after those times will be responded to the next business day. If you call or text after those hours, then we will be discussing billable hours. :)

3. Again, I am a 1 person operation. There are thousands of you and just one of me. If you send me a huge part list for a quote it is going to take me a few days to get one together for you. I only have so many hours that I can keep my eyes open. My access to the Toyota parts pricing and availability system is only from 8am-6pm EST.

4. Please respect my time. I am realizing as a small business my most important commodity is time.

5. If you need something ASAP, I am probably not the person you want to call. I would recommend calling CDan or use an online vendor. I carry very little inventory. Everything is ordered based on request.

Also, I will have to have payment for any order paid up front before I order. I have to respect my suppliers or they won't want me as a customer much longer if I end up being a dead beat customer. All payments must clear Paypal before I place orders. In this past week I have been stiffed 4 times already. It's just not good business.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Do drop a line Trey. :)

Thank you for your loyalty and support.

by folks here? that isn't cool. definitely get paid first, money talks, bs walks. Folks normally have the best intentions but things/life happens. You gotta pay to play.

Unfortunately when it comes to money, you don't even trust family. If customers aren't willing to pay upfront (credit card /
Pay Pal) then you probably don't need those customers.

4. Please respect my time. I am realizing as a small business my most important commodity is time.

If you remember nothing more than this one point beno, you will do well. Keep a razor sharp focus on revenue and margin per hour and you will quickly determine how lucrative (or not) your business can be.

Lack of realizing time is that valuable or not keeping focused on revenue/margin per hour is a leading cause of failure in small business start-ups.

Now that sucks big time. Just remember you probably have a few hundred willing collections agents here on MUD ;)
