So the local dealer has the exact taco I want except it's the sport package instead of the offroad. It's a new 09 btw. Why would I consider this? Here's the deal:

Because they have it in stock and sales are slow, they offered it $2k less than a similiarly equipped Offroad package truck. I'd eventually be putting an ARB in the front, so I'm thinking if I can get them down another thou then maybe it would make sense as I'd have the same as the offroad but they'd basically be paying for my ARBs for front and rear .... although I HATE ARB and prefer the elocker.

Thoughts? What other differences would I be missing out on? Does this make sense to you, or would you recommend waiting on a truck I'd have to order? I know their financing special goes to end of month, but with the economy the way it is they'll have another one prob soon as this one is up.

I'd keep looking. I'm guessing they will keep coming down in price around the holidays. Better financing or rebates. An ARB isnt warranteed like an e-locker.

Just tell us you want the hood scoop:)

There's gotta be other dealerships in NJ with an Off-Road package sitting on the lot. Keep looking, IMO. Also, wouldn't a base Tacoma be a better fit for you than a Sport?

Unless you really do want that scoop... :D

Hmm. Apparently the long bed dual cab version is not avail with the elocker. You can only the locker if you go with the short bed. Who the heck wants a truck with a short? I'm bummed.

If I were to buy a new Tacoma all I want is the SR5 + e-locker. I don't want all the other stuff that comes in the $4000-4500 TRD Offroad Package like the JBL speakers, JBL bass tube, paint matched bumpers, Bilstein shocks, and other extras.

I'm going to end up ripping out the paint matched bumpers and changing out the suspension anyways. Oh well.

Oh yeah, with the Sports package you end up with 17" wheels. TRD Offroad comes with 16" wheels which will have a wider selection of offroad tires, more meat, and generally speaking tires will be a bit cheaper than their 17" counterparts.

I don't believe such a rig is produced by Toyota. I'm pretty sure all the 4wd locked Tacomas come with the TRD OR package.

It's my wishful thinking. Hence my short rant of not wanting to have to pay the $4000-4500 for the entire package when what I really want is just the e-locker.

Lots of people. Who the heck wants a "mini-truck" with a 140+" wheelbase?
If I want to wheel I'll take the 45. I need the long bed. Short beds are for the under endowed. I'm used to wheeling something longer. If you can't wheel a lwb then stick with a 40. :flipoff2:

Toyota Sale-a-thon started last Tuesday, probably a good time to buy a Toyota, rebates, low finanace rates, and end of the year.

I know this because...09 Camry SE, Magnetic Gray, drove it home Wednesday, been sitting in the garage ever since. Waiting on the ice and snow and crap on the roads to go away. Been driving the 80 and the 94 Camry.

The Toyota dealer here is dealing, they even told me to wait a week until the Sale-a-thon started before buying.
