Hey guys, I'm shooting some vibration problems on the '89. I started by removing the rear drive shaft to rule out the rear differential and axle. After removing the ds I notice some play in the companion flange; coming out of the transfer case the flange has about an 1/8" of play turning. The one connected to the rear differential has about 1/64" of play. I am assuming there should be as little of play as possible but not sure. The play at the transfer case flange seems to be more in the case and not at the end, it seems like some play between the gears. Any help would be appreciated. Jeff

Yeah, it is a rotational play, no play lateral, so I guess I'm all right. Thanks

Anyone know if Toyota dealerships do driveshaft balancing?

Thanks cruiser88, I did find a local shop to do the balancing for $75, not sure if thats good but its the only one I found so far. I'll have them also install new Toyota u-joints (they seem fine) but I guess I have to start somewhere, there is no vibration when the ds is out so i'll start there. thanks
