Im changing out the seals that go on the companion flange output shafts on my FJ60 transfer case. The front output had some sealant on the splined shaft where it fits into the companion flange. Is there supposed to be some sealant here to prevent transfer case oil migrating out through the splined section?

Maybe a T-Case guru can chime in here.

To my understanding, it’s not supposed to have that there from factory, however many people end up siliconing it anyways. Perhaps the T-Case has had some previous work done to it.

Mine doesn’t have it, and it’s fine.
