Can anyone reccomend a good comercial hauler for an fj40? from Ga to Wi very flexable with haul dates (open truck) not enclosed? thanks

I just went through this painfull experience. I'm having a FJ40.5 shipped from Long Island, NY to Fresno, CA. I called 12 different auto transport companies and sifted through all their paperwork.

Some of the companies you find are Brokers meaning they just find a trucking company and make the deal for you. Other ones are actual trucking companies.

Find one that guarantees that once they load your truck they will only unload it at it's destination.

Some companies will leap frog some of thier loads. They will pick it up in NY and drop it off in IA were it will sit until another company picks it up and hauls it to UT. A different company will pick it up and take it the rest of the way to CA. It all depend on who's going that way and who needs a little extra load. They will not tell you they do this. The good side is that they were the cheapest. The bad side is that this can take up to 5 weeks. The question of "where did that dent come from will never be answered."

AAA Auto Movers is the company I signed with a month ago. I have regreted it ever since. They are a broker. They have had three trucking companies back out after they showed up to pick up the truck and realized how much the FJ weighs. It would put them over thier weight limit. They consider it a mini SUV. As of this morning the FJ is still in Long Island. A trucking company who knows what a early FJ Landcruiser is is picking it up tonight or first thing in the morning. Since mine is non operational it will be the last one on the car hauler and the first one off. It will be unloaded once through out it entire trip. In my drive next Thursday.

The one I would recommend is All American Auto Transport. They move about 150 autos a day. Thier e-mail is aatsales@american-autotransport.com. If you want to call them it's 888-402-7447 ext 415 and ask for Sabrina Kims.

If you want any more info just PM me.

What is the per mile rate? Does it depend on which loction you get on the hauler?

I recently did this when I moved to Austin in September. I called a broker and decided I did not want to go down that route. So, I found www.uship.com. Kinda like eBay, where people bid on hauling. Some are reputable companies and some are Jimmy Bob headed to Kentucky for the week and looking to pick something up to offset their cost.

I never used a commercial hauler before, so I wanted someone who was reputable, licensed and insured. I went with FiveStarLLC. They are a husband/wife team that are commercial haulers. This is their business. Sid and his wife are great and they did a fantastic job communicating transportation. While not the lowest (Jimmy Bob was), they had perfect feedback and met all of my requirements. PM me if you would like their number. Also, when I went through uShip, there was a rebate, allowing me to get $50 back from uShip. It may be there still. I would definitely use FiveStarLLC again if I need a vehicle transported. Best of luck.

Excellent suggestion.

I got three bids overnight.

Fivestar was busy for the next month. apparently lots of people like the way he does business.

Jay just dropped off the pig. Great guy, excellent service, good price. I couldn't have done it cheaper myself.

Pig even got to ride in an enclosed trailer the whole way

Jabbru is the guy's username on uship

tabbru@att.net is his email

Evergreen Motorsports in Golden is his business
