sorry to bring you down. just letting you know it's not paradise. it's beautiful, but mountain property is high$ and traffic around denver, which is where the decent paying jobs are sucks. grand junction is a quickly growing city, less than a stone's throw from moab, but has a minimum wage mentality (as in, that's what you'll make).

yes, it's beautiful and if you like 98 degree summers, denver's the place for you. if you're rich and can work from home, the mountains are the place for you. if you bitch whenever it snows, get the f' out.

i used to love denver, but traffic and "hoa lifestyles" has soured my view quickly. i'd love to get the hell outta here, but so many rigs and a new mortgage keep that from happening right now.

also wrong. we have the rocky mountain wood tick. major cause of colorado tick fever, which affects about 15% of campers. if you get a reoccuring fever, that may be the cause.

Actually you are right. I think I was thinking of fleas.

Property values and traffic are a joke there compared to the Boston area and the winters here are 10X worse than in Colorado. Least in Denver you can get random days above freezing and all the snow melts off the roads ina matter of hours. Not out here.

Not to bust balls but the guy was showing how great his vacation was and you're not being the cheery Colorado stoner we all hoped you are....try being a curmudgeon in your own clubhouse.

I think the least of my complaints with NE is the weather. It's the rest of the BS...

I am kinda sad that it's been raining most days when I get home from work. I don't have my raingear with me at my apt., and I want to go fishing.

I grew up at 9000 feet in the Colorado Rockies just east of Gunnison. I have been to all those places you showed pics of. Kinda got a homesick knot in my stomach. I really really miss Colorado!

yes bugs, yes lots and lots of sun, also rainy afternoons sometimes everyday during the summer.(i wish it snowed like it rains) :D
lots of high temps
killer camping areas
some of the best 4 wheeling!!!!!
killer fab shop just south of denver ;) (lame plug)

downside........2 many jeeps ouners who think they have something special:confused: :frown:

Actually you are right. I think I was thinking of fleas.

.

still wrong. got them too. actually have more variety than most states, they just aren't common on humans or domestic pets. much more common on wild animals.

you're right, our property values don't suck as bad as yours, but they're not very good any more either.

this is all just propaganda to keep us from moving to CO isn't it? ;) :D :D

now youre getting it dave
seriously though, Co is rad, spent 11 years there
Ige, where would you go?

glad to see you had some fun Lane, you deserve it

Kina where were you guys living out there?

When we were in Ouray we were walking around downtown and I looked
in the Realtors office. Nothing was less than 500K. One Place was a 3 bedroom cabin on about 1/2 an acre, they also had a small laundrymat on the property and that listed for 940K!

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. We see it as a retirement location. Most of ya have been to our place here and can tell that we aren't really concerned about living a high lifestyle : ). We just want a small 2 bedroom, garage for rigs, little bit of space for a small garden, and not to far from a real town.

I know it's out there and I'm willing to make a few more trips out to find it! : )

lane
we were in Nederland, up the canyon from boulder
small 3 bed with 2-car garage,1 acre
sold it all for where i am now, with enough left over to fix up 200 year old house and build a full shop
def could not afford to move back
we looked at ouray area before moving east, couldn't cut it.
nice but pricey for sure

you can get tires here
not sure about a real town
plus we need you here

There are always nice little towns just outside the popular ones and the prices go way down. Maybe 5-10 miles from Ouray or another place makes a big difference.

I looked at the real estate listings for Colorado Springs and some places outside Denver a while back. The prices weren't cheap, but they weren't bad. They beat the crap out of Mass. You couldn't give me a house here...I couldn't afford the taxes.

this is all just propaganda to keep us from moving to CO isn't it? ;) :D :D

na...no propoganda. :D i'll take cruiserheads moving here, it helps us outnumber the penisboy jeepers.

seriously though, we do have fleas, ticks, mosquitos...

Nuclear- OT- I had that same mortgage problem you mentioned and just got out of it. Made me a bit cranky about things too. Stressful as hell.

Also, I know there is some bug that you don't have out there that we have here in Boston. Crabs maybe?

Has anyone checked out the Raffle thats in Nuclearlemon's sig. line?
Nice 62 there and only $3 a ticket!

I think I'll order a few!
