Color of Canadian lpb rims / 1978

I asked this question the 3300 mile thread, but I think it got lost in the mix.


Wondering what the stock color of the rims are on a 78 Canadian lpb? Not sure if they were gray on my 78 or black? Or maybe neither? Also, if they were black, were they a flat, satin, semi or gloss?

Edit: They are 16" split rims, if that matters?

The ones i got for mine from the north were 78 year model ones and they were the gray color that i redid them in They are also split rims. They have the 78 date on the inside.

My rims definetely do not have hub cap clips. So I'm assuming that was stock also?

Gray must be the color. For some reason I think someone might have sprayed some black on there, just wasn't sure if that was factory or not?

Not to hijack my own thread, but what tire size are you guys running with those 16" rims?

And, can you post up some glamour shots so I can see how they look with the tires on?

Matt, my canadian 77 had 16" wheels but not split rim. the hubcap tabs had been removed but holes were in place, they had been painted black. I put BFG M/T 255/85R16 on them. I was told and think I saw on BFGs website they are 33 inches tall. I had to raise bed 1 inch to prevent slight rubbing on front fender edge which I could only produce when I had 3 gorillas rocking bed. I used Kurts OME 2 1/2 suspension lift.

Got the paint from Napa here locally. It was a base / clear coat. I will get you the color / number here today / this morning. I really had nothing to go with so i just chose one that looked close to what i thought it would be.
