Howdy 100 boys, funny thing happened to me today, driving along and caught up to a 100 towing a trailer, (around these parts 80/100 series LCs are relatively rare so you notice them) turns out the guy that sold me my 80 only lasted 2 months and bought himself another cruiser...........we pulled over and exchanged stories for about an hour........any how the only issue he has with his rig is his hoses have been collapsing (upper and lower rad hoses) during cooldown/overnight, he replaced the rad cap but still happend, he is about to replace the hoses, I told him I would post it up on mud and see if it is common problem among the 100 set?

I did some searching and nothing turned up

his truck is a 99 with 80k on it he has put on the last 20K and only reg services before that, appears to be bone stock.

Never heard of that one.

Sounds like a restriction in the system. I'd check for an obstruction in the coolant overflow pick-up hose first. If not, then could be a failing water pump, clogged radiator or even an air bubble in the system.

funny I was just talking to someone about this. He said they used to make coolant hoses with a coiled metal support in it so the hose wouldn't collapse.

sorry, don't know the solution to the problem.

happened to me once. cold snowy day wheeling, but i was revving it hard so the temps got pretty hot, then we'd sit for a long period.

i ended up coiling a metal coathanger and putting it inside the hose

Haven't seen it come up on MUD yet.

Sounds like a restriction between the coolant system on the truck and the overflow tank. When the coolant cools it should be drawing coolant from the bottom of the overflow tank. The overflow tank should breath. Does his truck have a non-vented cap on the overflow?

Thanks guys I will pass along the info.
