I'm still waiting, after several phone calls, to find out if any of us can get cheap rooms to stay at the Delta Hotel after the Christmas Party. No word yet.

Cancel the Salmon... My father passed away 8 days ago after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer, and I need to be in Penticton with my mom and brother that weekend...
You all have a good time and hope to catch up with you on the trails....

Hey Bill this is Brad here we met an the last club meeting I just got on here and noticed I'm not on the christmas party list, you drew me a map and asked me what I wanted, BEEF just wondering whats up.

:D OK Coastal Cruisers, I have talked to the Delta Hotel and they will supply any of you a room for the Christmas Party night for $69. If you are going to do this, I suggest that you give your license plate number to the Delta Hotel front desk so that your vehicle is still there in the morning.

Good work William. I'll speak to Milena on the room.

I am really looking forward to an evening with the lads. And lasses.

Now... if I can just win that radio.... :). But if not, I'll buy one anyway. Right?

Bill. Hotel trying to charge me $79 per night. Please provide name of person who quoted you the $69 rate. Thanks.

FYI. There is some confusion at the hotel. I told them Clint quoted $69 for us for our Christmas party, but reservations says the $69 rate was from last year. She gave me the rate anyways. Anyone else staying there might need to push a little to get the $69 instead of $79.

Hi gang,

Forgive me for asking this rather dorky question: What is the dress code at our dinner. I'm for jeans. And I'm sure Milena will be same. :o

Cheers,

Bruce

Wear whatever is comfortable for you in a pub. Some will come in work clothes, some will come in suits. I may wear a tie for the first 20 minutes.

Well, the Christmas Party was very successful and most everybody had a really good time, in all, 35 people. Getting there was hard for some, as traffic was snarled all over the mainland during the evening rush/holiday shopping hours. Ian and Sandy, coming all the way from Aldergrove, took almost two hours to get here, skipping the Port Mann Bridge and eventually coming over the Alex Fraser only to find the 99 Cutoff plugged too.
The setting and ambiance were perfect: a view of the river and city lights from the Pub main floor, and a great mezzanine games room upstairs complete with lounge chairs, pool tables and a big screen TV. The meals were decent and the service excellent, especially by our server Heidi, who remembered our names and cheerfully ran up and down those stairs several hundred times trying to feed us our booze throughout the evening. It was a nice touch during dinner watching the Canucks down Ottawa in the overtime shoot-out 3-2.
We didn’t actually get any club business done, but we did sign up three new members, Ian Bagot, Sandy Polnau, and our long time associate Dan Martz, plus we renewed Jan Hedmark’s membership. Club business, including nominations for club officers, will have to wait until the Jan 12, 06 meeting. The club took in $490 in fees and membership monies and paid out about $1460 for meals and the mezzanine, plus spent at least $500. in raffle prizes. For a more detailed summary of monies, talk to Rob Millson, our Treasurer.
The raffle prizes were evenly distributed this year, going to a wide variety of people. The grand prize ICOM V8 VHF FM handheld radio went to Paul K, which was good because he had wanted to buy one pretty soon anyway. Craig E won the camp stove/grille as well as a Micro Jet soldering kit and bug zapper. Bill/Willy won the Coleman 10 cup coffee maker, so they will be serving morning coffee for the everybody at Big Bar next spring. Brad R got the big axe prize, and both Gary T and Les R got tie rod ends. Mike McT and daughter Erin, got chrome wheel nuts and a cool T shirt, Rod McD a Micro Jet and locking wheel nuts, Rob Millson a Micro Jet and both locking wheel nuts and regular nuts, Greg B wheel nuts, and Jeff a Micro Jet. Finally, Dan walked away with a genuine Toyota oil filter, and El Presidente Tetu scored a bug zapper.
Of special note, newly-weds Christina & Derek Anderson looked pretty happy, and also thanks to Thomas M & Shirley for buying two big pitchers of beer for the club members. Also, for those of you wishing to buy a radio, ComWest has them in stock now. If enough interest for a radio course is expressed in January, we will organize one.
Later in the evening, some hot snooker was played by Traci D and Phil’s wife Angelica, putting a couple of guys to shame. The party broke up about 12:30 with several members vowing to go wheel’n in January if at all possible.
Some smart individuals stayed at the hotel overnight: Traci & Rojo, Bruce & Milena, Tom & Shirley, and Rob Millson.
As we were leaving, we found a parking lot security guard asleep in front of my vehicle. Instead of waking him up, I should have taken one of those nice Mercedes just down the row, but heck, they can't make it to Clear Creek!
