Hey Everyone,

**Edit: Stephen just offered both rooms for $200 plus taxes; costs adjusted below ***

Time is short; as you are aware Pier 73 isn't available to us this year. So we need some ideas; would prefer central location, New West/Langley, Poco, etc.

I did contact Quality Inn in Abbotsford using Jeff's lead, here are the details:

December 16th is available:

Summit – 4th floor of the hotel side. Dinner room
Rental: $100 plus taxes
Plus food and beverage

Valley – Lobby Level of the hotel side. Post Dinner room
Rental: $100 plus taxes

Christmas menus are attached but for our group (30 approx), here is my suggestion:

It's an option, but I'd like to look at others; perhaps even an upscale restaurant or pub, etc. more central.

If a few of you could spend a few minutes on the net or call a place or two regarding a room for 30-40, that would be great!

I haven't given up yet on Pier 73. I phoned Tim Lattamore yesterday and will call him again Monday.
He was having a meeting today re the renovations and will have a more up to date answer on Monday.

Pier73 would give us dinner for $35/plate with no room rental fees. Taxes and gratuity on top of that. Cost is about $1200. But that is only after Bill beats them fiercely with his recollection of the fees we paid in 1985 and still expects the same. :)

Bill has obtained this offer from the hotel next to Pier 73. I think this is a great option for us as well. Thanks Bill!

Hi Bill,

As we had discussed we do have the Maple room available for you. This space usually has a room rental of $625/day. Being that you are a valued customer we will only be charging a labour fee of $200 plus taxes.

We will keep a similar menu to last year. This Menu will be $40/person plus gratuities and taxes.

Choice of one appetizer:
Mixed Green Salad
or
Chef's choice of Soup

Choice of on Entree
Roasted Turkey ~ DRIED CRANBERRY AND APPLE STUFFING, PAN GRAVY, HOUSEMADE CRANBERRY PRESERVE
Flat Iron Steak ~ Seasonal Vegetables, Potatoes, red wine sauce
Pacific Salmon ~ HERB MAYO GRATIN, HOUSE PICKLE, CRISPY BELLY

Please choose on Dessert.
Pear Blueberry Crisp ~ Vanilla Gelato
Chef's Cheesecake Jar ~ Fresh Daily Creation .

As in the past years we would require a pre order. Since it's in a banquet room we would need this at least 2 weeks prior to arrival.
I have attached a picture of the Maple room. You are more than welcome to come by for a site visit and I can show you the space. Please give advance notice in case the room is in use.

December 9 is the date.

Let's decide from these two or if anyone else has obtained firm numbers, during the October meeting.

Thanks!

do I understand correctly that pier 73 can take us, we have the upper meeting area, as usual, where we have appies and drinks, move to the $200 room for dinner and then retreat to the upper meeting area again?

It looks like both options are about $50 per plate plus drinks plus gratuity.

Considering this, I would vote for change and try the central option.

Hi Kim,

Pier 73 cannot take us. We are using the Gateway West Hotel next door instead. Gateway offered us a 3 course meal, plated, for $40/plate plus $200 for the room. We do not have access to another room.

Cost for members is $20 and $40 for guests.

It will be a little different than what we are used to but we'll make it work. If Pier 73 completes there reno in time; we could ask to be moved back to our regular location; hence why we favoured the option next door.
